How much does a freelance WordPress web designer in Shropshire charge?
Every website I build is different, so there’s no one-size-fits-all price tag – but to give you a rough idea, most small business websites start from around £900 (with a scrolling one page website priced at a fixed £479) and scale depending on size, features and complexity. What you won’t get is hidden costs or vague quotes. After a quick chat, I’ll give you a clear, fixed price before anything starts.
How long does it take to build a website?
For most small business websites, you’re looking at around 1–3 weeks from kick-off to launch. Larger or more complex builds (e-commerce, booking systems etc.) can take a little longer. The timeline really depends on how quickly content, images and feedback come back from your side – the faster we work together, the sooner your site goes live.
What's the process — how do we go from enquiry to a finished website?
It’s straightforward. We start with a free discovery call to talk through your goals, your industry and what you need from your website. From there, I’ll send over a clear proposal and quote. Once you’re happy and the initial payment is made, I get to work – designing, building, reviewing with you, and launching. You’re kept in the loop throughout, with no disappearing acts.
Do I need to pay everything upfront?
No – I ask for a small deposit to get started, which secures your spot in the schedule. The remaining balance is typically split across the project, with the final payment on completion. This keeps things fair on both sides and means you’re not paying everything before you’ve seen a single pixel. I use Stripe – allowing clients to pay via debit card, credit card, Klarna, etc.
What platform do you build websites on?
All of my websites are built on WordPress – the world’s most popular CMS, powering over 40% of the web. It’s flexible, scalable and easy for you to manage once the site is handed over. I build using Elementor Pro, which means your pages are visually polished and straightforward to update without needing to touch any code.
Will my website be set up for SEO?
Yes – every website I build includes solid SEO foundations as standard: proper heading structure, meta titles and descriptions, fast load times, mobile responsiveness and clean code. I also offer a full SEO service separately if you want to go further — targeting specific keywords, building content and improving your rankings in Google over time. Will I get a domain name and hosting with my website?
Absoloutley. I can handle purchasing and registering your domain name if you don’t already have one, and I host all of my sites on UK based, super-fast cloud hosting. I use the best hosting possible so all of my clients sites are fast, safe, and backed up regularly. My hosting and maintenance cost is £25/month (billed monthly.)
Will I be able to update my website myself once it's built?
Absolutely. WordPress is designed to be user-friendly, and I’ll make sure you know how to make basic updates — like changing text, swapping images or adding a new blog post – before we part ways. If you’d rather hand that off entirely, I offer website maintenance as an ongoing service so your site stays updated, secure and running smoothly without you lifting a finger.
What do I need to send you to get started?
After our free discovery call, I’ll be able to assess what content is needed for your website. Ideally some good quality imagery is a must, but I can help with this. I gather enough information about your services, location, business and products in our initial call to get going with the website, the beauty of working with me is the fact we have regular reviews during the build process, so we can tweak elements of the site and add additional sections as we go until you’re happy.
